All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, are required to have a valid visa to enter Nepal. Visa can be obtained by visiting the Nepalese  Consulate office in North Sydney or by sending all required documents by mail.
The Nepalese Consulate office in Sydney issues the following tourist visas to Nepal. For all other visa types and requirements please visit Embassy of Nepal.

Following visa fees are effective from 16 November 2008.

  * Children under the age of 10 will not be charged for the visa up to 30 days.
Important :
  • Visa must be utilised within 6 months from the date of issue.
  • Visa once issued cannot be withdrawn and visa fee will not be refunded after visa is issued

Requirements for tourist visa application

Applying in person: 
Please submit following documentation at the North Sydney consulate office.
Address : 1/F, 9 Napier Street, North sydney
Business Hours : 9.00am-3.00pm Monday to Thursday (Except Public Holiday)
  
( 1 ) Fully completed one (1) visa application form 
( 2 ) Your current passport valid for at least six month
( 3 ) One recent passport photographs attached to your form
( 4 ) Visa fee as applicable payable by cash or by bank cheque/money order. If paying by bank cheque/company cheque/money order please make cheque payable to Consulate of Nepal, NSW. Personal cheques and credit cardswill not be accepted.
Return self-addressed Yellow Express Post envelope or a Registered Post envelope (required).
Visa will be issued within 3 business days from the date of receipt and posted to you in the envelope provided.
Please advise if you’re applying for the “On the spot/Urgent visa”.
Applying by post:

Visa Extension
A tourist visa can be extended up to 120 days from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara Immigration Office on request. Thereafter an additional 30 days can be extended from Department of Immigration ensuring that tourist visa cannot be extended more than 150 days.

Nepal Visa can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, at border entry points in Kakadvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki on Nepal-India border and Kodari on Nepal-China border. Visa can also be obtained at the nearest Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission. Visa can also be obtained (renewal purposes) at Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.A valid passport and one passport -size photo with a light background is required. Immigration Department has not specified the size of the passport-size photo.

Visa can be obtained only through payment of cash in the following currency: Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar and Japanese Yen. Credit card, Indian currency and Nepali currency are not accepted as payment of visa fee. a. Tourist

b.Gratis (Free) Visa

For first visit in one visa year (January to December) , gratis visa for 30 days is available only for nationals of South   Asian countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, visa can be extended from the Immigration Department on payment of  visa fee as specified above.

Indian nationals do not require visa to enter into Nepal.

For Indian National

Indian nationals do not require visa to enter Nepal.

As per the Nepalese Immigration, Indian Nationals Traveling to Nepal must posses any One of the following documents.


  • Passport
  • Driving License with photo
  • Photo Identity card issued by a Government Agency
  • Ration Card with Photo
  • Election Commission Card with Photo
  • Identity Card issued by Embassy of India in Kathmandu
  • Identity Card with Photo issued by Sub- Divisional Magistrate or any other officials above his rank

Also, please check with your nearest travel agents for documents required by the Indian Immigration for Indians traveling to Nepal. d.Other Information

Nationals from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan will need to obtain visa from Nepal Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries, as they do not get visa on arrival at the immigration entry points of Nepal. e.Visa

Extension

Tourists can stay for a maximum of 150 days in a visa year (Jan 1 to Dec 31).
